Antanas Gustys, the director and founder of the Vilnius Jazz Festival asked UŽUPIS to participate in the festival even though there was no chance of traveling to Vilnius from New York at the time. So we went into the our favorite studio. (Shahzad Ismaili's famed Figure 8 Studio in Brooklyn with crack engineer Michael "Rocketship" Coleman) We recorded a "live set" of UŽUPIS hits that are on the upcoming full length album "DIRT". (plus some new songs) We then made a movie that would accompany the set of music. All of us dapple in film making so we filmed the recording session and threw into a bucket a bunch of movies we all made and were making. After the session we spent a long, fun night editing and drinking and eating at my crib on the west side and by morning we had a full movie ready to send to Vilnius in time for the premiere screening of the "concert/film" at the Russian Drama Theater. (just a few blocks away from the band's namesake)
